All of the poetry is very whimsical & light-hearted, but have small nuggets of wisdom within them.

This books holds a special place in my heart,
as my Dad used to read me this (and other collections) every night before i went to sleep.

Ecclesiastes — The Holy Bible

Ecclesiastes is one of the 3 'wisdom' books of the Bible. It touches on life's cosmic irony, the fleeting nature of success, and other existential musings.

I don't recommend this book if you are going through your edgy teenage phase,
but instead recommend this for your edgy, mid-twenties phase of life.

Industrial Society & It's Future (otherwise known as; 'The Unibomber Manifesto'), is an accurate prediction of how society has (and will) turn out due to technology's vice-grip on humanity.
A real eye-opener on many things such as the rapid evolution of technology, it's effect on humanity as a whole, the impact technology has on politics, and other controversial topics.

Job — The Holy Bible

The book of Job is my personal favorite scripture.
It highlights the fact that we will never know God's plan, nor will we understand it.
Big recommendation if you're going through your "I hate everything, the world sucks, & nothing matters", Nietzsche-esque phase in life...

... or if you're feeling suicidal...
(at least, it helped me when i felt that way)

The Art of War — Sun Tzu

Much of the content can be applied to everyday life,

and has come in handy for me more times than once.
